For hard-chargers craving more
Located within quick striking distance of vast Selkirk and Purcell mountain range tenures, few places on earth are as ideal a venue for logging maximum vertical footage as this CMH original. Globally renowned for its mix of consistent pitch and perfectly spaced towering trees with a stunning backdrop of glaciated alpine — these ranges are designed for fast, fluid heli-skiing. Massive vertical and non-stop runs with an even 50/50 mix of big alpine and trees describe the quick pick-up style of skiing in the Selkirks. Yet when one zone isn’t enough, the Purcell range accessible at the Bobbie Burns is also massive — existing as a remote, wilderness powder reserve with stunning summits, broad alpine cirques and even deeper tree runs.
Both halves of our tenure — the Selkirks and Purcells — are tailor-made for heli-skiing with bold, fast and dramatic lines that run to the valley floors. While more varied and featured than consequential and fearsome, the Bobbie Burns heli-skiing terrain sets up as a personal test piece that delivers a healthy amount of speed, challenge and adrenaline. The constant proximity to skiable terrain on multiple aspects in concentrated drainages enables the quick-hit approach to line selection that predominates at the Burns. It’s also wild country, well worth soaking in the views when you take your short break or breather on the way down.
